In today’s modern world, we use AI for all sorts of problems, whether it be to solve your math homework, to help you write code, or pretty much any type of problem we can solve using deep research on the internet. But AI cannot help solve EVERY single problem we have. In this post I will talk briefly about why AI cannot yet be trusted to help us solve our own emotional problems.

The answer to this question is very simple, emotions are subjective. Meaning that every emotion a human feels, is their own personal emotion, what one person may enjoy, another may find to be boring, or even sad. AI still has a tough time being able to decipher one’s personal emotion, without being physically connected to one’s brain, so that their own data can be extracted and used to provide you with the information an individual may be asking. This very basis can be used to explain on why AI has a tough time deciphering anything that is subjective, as there is not enough data in the world to prove that a specific thing, can make a specific individual happy, sad, or any emotion. So while we delve deeper into using AI technology, we must first understand that our own emotional intelligence, is something that may NEVER be superseded.

I have provided an example to the right, showing what happens when I prompt AI with a question like this. As we can see in the AI’s response, in the last paragraph, it cannot give us a definitive answer on whether this should make us happy or sad, but instead will provide you with several different ways for you to decipher the problem, as ultiimately you are the only one who can answer this question.
